One Digital ID, From Factory to Consumer

How iconic Canadian luxury outerwear brand Moose Knuckles built provable authenticity, regulatory readiness, and a direct consumer channel into every garment — all on a single dual-sensor TwinTag, powered by r-pac CNCT.

The Problem

Achieve end-to-end traceability and DPP compliance with r-pac CNCT

Moose Knuckles set out to build what most brands only claim: provable authenticity, regulatory readiness, and a direct consumer channel, built into every garment.

The pressure was converging from every direction. Regulators were raising the bar: the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), the EU's Digital Product Passport (mandatory for textiles and apparel by mid-2028), and France's AGEC legislation all demand verifiable, item-level proof of where products come from and what they're made of. Premium outerwear remains a prime target for counterfeiting and grey-market diversion. And like most brands, Moose Knuckles had no direct line to the person actually holding its product.

The brand's answer was deliberate: don't bolt trust on at the store, or patch it in after checkout. Design it in from the very beginning, at the factory, inside the product itself. Then carry one digital identity through every stage, from source to store to smartphone, all on a single dual-sensor TwinTag, powered by r-pac CNCT.

The Solution

How Moose Knuckles achieved end-to-end traceability and DPP compliance with r-pac CNCT

Already an r-pac VSBL customer for supply chain visibility, Moose Knuckles expanded with r-pac CNCT to deploy a single connected digital identity across its entire value chain, created at the moment of the purchase order and carried through factories, distribution centers, stores, and into the consumer's hands.

At the heart of it: one tag, two sensors

Most connected-product programs force a choice, or a compromise: an RFID inlay for operations, plus a separate NFC tag or QR sticker for the consumer. Moose Knuckles runs both on a single r-pac TwinTag. One dual-frequency tag embeds two digital sensors: UHF RFID for long-range, high-volume supply chain reads, and NFC for close-range, smartphone-native consumer interaction. Each sensor has its own unique digital identity, tied to the other for maximum security. The result is all the benefits of RFID, bank-level authentication, and extended consumer use cases in one discreet, embedded tag, with a technical complexity that makes it virtually impossible to clone.

It starts with the order

Purchase orders flow into r-pac's R-trac order management system. TwinTags are produced and encoded at the nearest r-pac service bureau and shipped directly to Moose Knuckles' owned and contracted factories, so every garment's digital identity exists before the garment itself does.

Validated at the factory

TwinTags are embedded discreetly in the care label at the side seam. On the line, CNCT software validates every item to confirm the right tag is on the right product. Pack validation shows exactly what was packed, missing, or substituted versus the order; ship validation covers every carton across every PO, including destination-country checks so cartons bound for the same market ship together. Each ship event flows to the ERP to generate the ASN, with every product itemized by serial number, carton, PO, and shipment.

Use Case

Item, Pack & Ship Validation; DC & 3PL Operations; Store Cycle Counts & Inventory Visibility; Product Authentication; NFC Consumer Experience; Digital Product Passport; Materials Traceability

Accurate through the DC

Distribution centers and 3PLs receive against the ASN by carton, PO, and shipment, then run pack and ship validation for online fulfillment, store orders, and any repacked cartons. CNCT hardware is fitted to each site, from integrated pack stations to high-speed RFID tunnels, so every facility, whatever its throughput, operates on the same item-level data.

Visible in the store

Store teams run RFID cycle counts to receive from warehouses and other stores, validate outbound transfers, manage inventory disposition, and locate any individual item on demand. Stock on hand syncs between the POS and Momentis, Moose Knuckles' ERP, keeping system inventory aligned with reality. An immersive in-store room invites shoppers to explore the technology for themselves.

Alive in the consumer's hands

With a smartphone tap on the same TwinTag that has carried the garment since the factory (no app required), consumers verify authenticity through bank-level, web-based authentication and unlock the product's story: materials, origin, and recommendations. The same tap opens the product's Digital Product Passport: material traceability, supply chain visibility, environmental impact data, certificates and transfer of ownership, repair and recycling records, and compliance data.

One thread of data, beginning to end

Because every identity is born in R-trac, CNCT's breadcrumb reporting can trace any EPC/TID through every scan it has ever received: where the tag was produced, the first factory scan, every item, pack, and ship validation, DC operations, store movements, and consumer taps around the world. Where an operation happens outside CNCT, an API integration with Momentis pulls the record in, keeping the audit trail complete.

Results and Benefits

A complete connected-product deployment

What began as a materials-traceability initiative is now one of the most complete connected-product deployments in luxury apparel. It was showcased to retail leaders during an exclusive Moose Knuckles store tour at NRF 2026, and it is home to one of the industry's most recognized Digital Product Passports.

  • One tag, two sensors

A single embedded TwinTag powers both worlds: UHF RFID for factory, DC, and store operations, and NFC for consumer authentication and the DPP. No second connected tag or sticker on the product.

  • End-to-end serialized traceability

Every tagged item carries a digital identity traceable from the birth of the tag through factory, DC, and store, and through every consumer tap, anywhere in the world.

  • Validated accuracy at every handoff

Item, pack, and ship validation at the factory; ASN-driven receiving and validation at DCs and 3PLs; cycle counts and transfer validation in stores.

  • Authentication without friction

Product verification on a native smartphone tap, with no app and no barrier, protecting the brand against counterfeiting and diversion.

  • Compliance evidence on demand

Serialized breadcrumb reporting and live DPP data give Moose Knuckles auditable chain-of-custody records for UFLPA, EU DPP, and AGEC requirements.

  • A direct consumer channel

Every tap is an owned brand moment (authentication, product story, and cross-sell), generating first-party engagement data without media spend, including a global view of where products are tapped.
