Demonstrated at Climate Week NYC, the collaboration links r-pac CNCT’s item-level product identity to Triangle’s Carbon Pool, so verified carbon credits can be acquired and retired automatically as part of everyday transactions.

New York, NY — r-pac CNCT, the connected product intelligence platform from r-pac, a global leader in brand identity, packaging, and connected product solutions, today announced a strategic collaboration with Triangle Digital, the financial infrastructure for the carbon economy, to connect verified environmental performance from real-world products directly to carbon retirement at the point of sale.

The collaboration is designed for brands and retailers across fashion, apparel, luxury and sports merchandise, where product-level evidence for environmental claims is increasingly critical and where carbon retirement has so far sat outside the transaction as a separate sustainability process.

The partnership combines r-pac CNCT’s item-level digital product identity and supply chain data with Triangle’s carbon-market infrastructure. Together, this allows the purchase of a specific, verified product to trigger the acquisition and retirement of carbon credits automatically, as part of the transaction itself.

The model begins with the physical product. Through serialized identifiers and NFC, RAIN RFID and QR technologies, r-pac CNCT gives each product a unique, persistent digital identity at production scale, together with the structured data that follows it through the supply chain: composition per component, country of origin by production step, care, certifications and documentation. That turns a category-average assertion into a record tied to a specific unit of production, available for the product’s full life, and provides the foundation for a Digital Product Passport.

Triangle provides the financial infrastructure that connects that verified activity to the carbon economy. Through Triangle’s Carbon Infrastructure-as-a-Service, qualifying environmental performance can be transformed into regulated, financially tradeable digital assets. Triangle’s Carbon Pool then makes verified credits continuously available for just-in-time acquisition and retirement in the quantities required by individual transactions, without brands or retailers having to pre-purchase and warehouse carbon-credit inventory.

At the point of sale, a purchase or other product event can trigger just-in-time retirement from the Carbon Pool, so the required amount of verified carbon is acquired and retired automatically as part of the transaction, with demand scaling with actual commerce rather than forecasted inventory. For brands and retailers, carbon retirement becomes a micro-payment embedded in every eligible sale; for consumers, it becomes part of an everyday purchase, without the legacy challenges of carbon credits.

“The hard part of a Digital Product Passport was never the technology. It is getting a durable, unique identity onto a physical item at production scale, and getting structured data to follow it through the supply chain,” said Güneri Tugcu, Global Director Partnerships and Ecosystems at r-pac. “That same foundation gives environmental markets something they have historically lacked: evidence tied directly to the physical asset.

The collaboration was demonstrated at Climate Week NYC using connected apparel from r-pac, including a Moose Knuckles parka with an embedded TwinTag combining RAIN RFID and NFC, a connected shirt and a connected sports jersey, showing the same identity layer across luxury outerwear, everyday apparel and sports merchandise.

“r-pac connects the product and the data that travels with it, and Triangle provides the financial infrastructure that completes the loop,” said Darren Wolfberg, CEO of Triangle Digital. “Our Carbon Pool makes verified carbon credits continuously available so they can be acquired and retired just in time at the moment of consumption, without requiring brands or retailers to warehouse credits in advance. That turns carbon retirement from a separate corporate initiative into infrastructure that can operate automatically inside everyday commerce.”
